There is no need everyone to be able to see personal details of the IV members. The admin should keep this list securely locked and use only when appropriate. A lot of bad things can happen if this data is open for the public.

A new immigration enforcement bill that would remove the jobs magnet for illegal immigration is expected to be introduced in the House very soon. The SAVE Act (Secure America with Verification Enforcement) will be sponsored by Rep. Heath Shuler (D-N.C.) and is expected to have bi-partisan support. NumbersUSA believes this bill originating on the Democratic side of the House is just the vehicle to give us a chance to actually pass immigration legislation through a Democratic-controlled Congress that would significantly improve the lives of most Americans. I don't see anything wrong with this act, infact I was wondering if there was any possibility that we can ride this bill and add EB reforms to it.
Not sure if anything could be attached but at least if this bill were to be approved and enforced maybe the possibility of immigration reform might follow.
In all instances we keep hearing that we have to close the border first from dozens of lawmakers then we can consider dealing with immigration laws.
It remains to be seen if they are true to their word.

Since on 2nd July they said they will reject the AOS application, what if they would have done some rejection during that time, and by the time July filers get their application back, it is after 17th of August. In that circumstance, can you send the AOS application back arguing USCIS's mistake and ask them to take it back after 08/17 and would they take it back politely or reject it again.

Why not use people who already agreed to volunteer before by looking at their profiles?
Unfortunately we need folks who are active on the forums (and hence must have read this thread).
Also, we did not really clarify what a volunteer does (when someone registers), so to ensure that only folks who are really interested reply.

To the best of my knowledge you can not file for AOS while you are on TN . To process your green card you have to switch to your H1B from TN and start your green card as any other national i.e file for your Labor certification, I-140 and then i-485 .This process is same like any other national. All the best.

Yes, only if approved I-140 is not withdrawn or canceled before new I-140 approval.
If you are in AC21 safety net then you can recapture PD (after 180 days of 1-485 filing) even if your initial sponsoring employer withdraws his initial I-140.:o
once I-140 approved then that PD is locked for you , you can port that date with your new I-140 filing. no need to file 485 and wait for 6 months, this only for Ac-21 porting with new employer.

raajan, You may not know but, that is exactly why Diwali is celebrated in the whole North India. I know the whole south India celebrates Deepawali to mark the victory of Lord Krishna. The amazing thing is very few South Indians know why North celebrates and vice versa :-)

in my earlier job my boss (panjabi) asked couple of our team members to write a brief note on the story behind Diwali. a north colleague and a south colleague wrote their own versions. my manager is now confused :-) that's how all of us came to know about both versions. :-)

I am in the same boat, changed my mind to apply for AP in the last minute and mailed my application on Aug 16th, USPS messed it up and couldn't deliver it on Aug 17th, tried delivering it on 18th but didnt since offices were closed finally delivered it on 20th.
Now my AP application got rejected citing that I should have applied with new fee of $305 starting July 30th.
What is confusing is where does it says post marked by Aug 17th? I thought USCIS had to receive it by Aug 17th.

DO NOT OPEN IN THE MAIL ROOM
and address the package to director of the service center also include the evidance that you have applied when the visa bulliten is current

You are right. There are days I feel like writing to Durbin, Grassley or Sanders about this practice because few of all the 350K odd BEC LCs are out there for taking by these a**h**s. I have always wished that one day all these approvals get dug out and financials behind them investigated. I wouldn't be too sad to see all these guys behind bars and their GCs revoked.

As I understand, your GC application is based on your husband's I-140.
Does your husband work for a different employer or the same employer as yours?
If different, you can kick your employer's A$$ and they can't do a thing.
If same, they may be blackmailing you because your husband's GC depends on them for some time - 3 more months.
If it is the second case, why don't you just work on H1 for the next 3 months and then do whatever you want..
BTW, he can not do any damage to you or your pending GC in any way by cancelling your H1.. Doing it will put them in bad light for wasting a precious H1 visa by misrepresenting the facts..

BTW USPS does not forward federal emails (and the ones where return service is requested). It may depend upon you luck if they forward it. However they do hold such mails for pickup (which is what i have done).

Really tragic, I noticed the cause of death was suicide by asphyxiation, they found a plastic bag around his head ?, that totally seems suspicious to me, an IITian will have a tons of job offers in India, so if finances were his problem that is ruled out, love problems ?, sad to see a 23 year old kid pass away like this.
