Agree with you Infinite_Patience_GC.......for desis I would not recommend doing a full time MBA unless you get into top 10. Foreign students are having a hard time finding a job even at top 10 schools these days.
Although one good thing about part time is that it is less risky and usually lot of big companies help in reimbursing some of the tuition.

Durbin (father of Dream Act) hates us. He loves to grand stand for "children of undocumented" "the down torn, the poor, the under privileged" and thinks we are like spoilt rich kid. This is a good thought, but who will bell the cat? Durbin is totally irrational when it comes to children of legal and undocumented. Not sure that you know this, but just thought of laying the facts as they are.

If I wait until my new I140 got approved through new employer and then switch. Now a days because of PERM process and premium processing for I140, it may be approved within two months.
Then even if the old employer withdraws 140, does it effect the priority date of already approved 140?
Do any one has answer for this? Please respond

I lost my job.My 140 is approved and I 485 is over 180 days.I have 2 yr EAD .I was laid off on 6 th April and I see LUD on I-485 on 9 april.I am so much worried that I may get RFE.

Hello,
My I485 was filed at TX center. However it was transferred to VSC for data entry and they generated the receipt number.
Receipt date = 03-Aug-2007
Notice Date = 12-Oct-2007
On 20-Oct, VSC then transferred the case back to TSC and generated a transfer notice with date of 20-Oct-2007
For the AC21/180 day I always thought that the counting would start in my case from 03-Aug. However my company lawyer says that it will start from 20-Oct and I am at a complete loss on this..
Is it really true.
This is really urgent since I stand to lose out big time on an excellent job offer.
What are my options here - Is there any documentation that I can show to him that I am correct (If I am).

If we plan to send flowers, we should send them to the SAME place, same person, if a 100 different news stations receive these flowers, this would be of no consequence, the ideal person to send these to would be Bill O reiley, God (yea I invoke his name ;) knows that he loves to talk aout himself, and if you get him involved, and throw in the words like , "BUSH wanted us to be able to AOS", he is going to be all over it.

Could somebody pls. help and respond to this query.
In case of approved Change of Status from H4-H1B , when can the H1B holder apply for a SSN. Do we need to wait till Oct. 1 to apply for the SSN or can we apply earlier.
I heard that it can take anytime between 2-8 weeks and the H1B holder is not supposed to start working till they receive the SSN.
Thanks a lot for your help, its greatly appreciated.

I filed my LC on June 06. The Certification was denied on Feb 07, I filed an appeal right away, and I have not heard anything. I called the DOL so many time and they gave me the same response: "Your case is in process, we work on first in, first out, and we do not expedited cases, we don't have a frame time" That is not a concrete answer.
There is any body that faced a similar situation, Please advised�. what to do!!!!

Folks please share your opinion/experience about "WHICH USCIS OFFICE" the last EAD application was filed to if you lived and worked in NJ. Thanks!
Last year it went to california center because of the large no. of applications due to july visa bulletin. You should file to Texas service center because you are in NJ (please read the instructions to verify).

My brother moved jobs early last year. He filed AC21 and got an RFE immediately.
The move was parallel in job function and the pay was good.
They replied to the RFE and then never heard back. In these economic times, USCIS
is scrutinizing every doc that gets filed.
Just an experience....

I know that it is possible to apply for H1-B visa and enter after using EAD. But, I am little dubious about using old visa after using EAD, but it should not make much of a difference I think.
In any case, you should be prepared to field questions at the POE for your actions otherwise he may ask you to use AP instead.
By the way, this is the only way one can re-instate their H1-B status after using EAD.
